Dog-Friendly Walking Trails in Raleigh

We’re a society obsessed with our Fitbits and tracking our daily steps. If your minimum goal is 10,000 steps per day, you need to get up off the couch to make it happen. Why not head out to a walking trail and take Fido with you! Raleigh is surrounded by many beautiful parks and walking trails. William B. Umstead State Park has two dog-friendly walking trails that are worth checking out:

Oak Rock Tr
8801 Glenwood Ave
Raleigh, NC, US 27617

Sal’s Branch Trail is an easy, 2.75 mile hike that will take about 1.5 hours to complete with Fido. This park is a nice retreat for city dwellers to run, fish, picnic, boat, bike, and hike. Bikes are not allowed on this trail, so you will have plenty of room to stay by your pup. Please note that dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet.

Company Mill Trail
8801 Glenwood Avenue
Raleigh, NC, US 27612
Inspiration Trail is an easy 0.6 mile hike in William B. Umstead State Park office that will take about 20 minutes to complete with Fido. This lovely little trail is great if you are in a hurry or if your pup doesn’t do well on longer hikes. You won’t have to worry about bicycles or horses, since this trail is limited to foot traffic. Please note that dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
When you can’t get out to walk your personal Fido…there’s always Raleigh Pet Sitters 🙂
Happy Walking!
