You’ve Scheduled a Consult With Us: What Happens Next?

Anyone who entrusts their beloved pet with someone new wants to make sure that their pet is in good hands and is going to be well-cared for. The Raleigh Pawz team completely understands (we are the same way!) Your pets are more than an animal or a pet – they are family, and we treat them as such.

For the comfort and safety of both your pets and our team, it is critical for your pet(s) and your pet sitter to be comfortable and acquainted with each other. That is just part of the reason that we offer free consultations for new clients as part of our routine on-boarding process. We want you to know that your pet is comfortable with their pet sitter.

However, our initial consult is about more than simply letting our team bond with your pet and providing them loads of attention. This consultation is a chance for our pet sitters to learn more about your pet’s needs, likes and dislikes, directly from the people who know them best – YOU.

So… what exactly happens during this consult?

The majority of the visit is dedicated to questions and answers, from you to us, and from us to you. We want you to know that your pet will be cared for while you are not there. During this consultation, we also get to know your pet(s) and let them become comfortable with our team.

What will be discussed?

Because our services are customized to meet your pet’s individual needs, we want to take the time to make sure we learn from you. Some areas that we will want to cover are:

Routine:

Our services are customized to meet your pet’s individual needs so we will want to learn all about their routine. Our team will confirm not only the amount you feed your pet but also the frequency. We will also want to review if your pet enjoys interaction. Lastly, we will need to know your house rules. For example, are your pets allowed to be on the furniture? Do they need to sit to earn treats, etc.?

Set Up:

Because we customize our services, we will want to know more about how their “stuff” is set up. We will need to see where your pet’s food and dishes are stored. In addition to their food, we will need to know where things such as leashes, pet waste bags, cleaning supplies, and toys are maintained. For our cat owners, it is important for us to know their litter box(es) is (are) located, and where cleaning supplies are kept.

Dog Walking Routine:

We will ask you about your dog’s preferred walking routine. How do they do on walks? Do they have a tendency to pull? Are they frightened of other dogs or animals we might encounter? Do they have a favorite route? Lastly, we will also inquire about which commands your pet responds to and which he/she does not know.

Access:

During this consult, we will also ensure that we can access your home during our scheduled visits. This involves obtaining copies (2) of your house key so that we can get in and out without any issues. Also, if you have an alarm system, we will need to work with you to make sure we know how to arm and disarm the system when needed.

At Raleigh Pawz, providing you with peace of mind and making sure your pets are healthy and happy is our business.  Raleigh Pawz prides itself in making scheduling service with us simple and easy! To get started with us, simply Create an Account
